Assisting (Or, “Be THAT Guy!”)

So recently I undertook an assistant director job for a friend. It’s a good experience thus far, and I really enjoy watching people work with characters I’ve played before. The only real downside? Auditions.

I mean, no one really likes auditions as much as having the part already, right? But the casting process is where I’m learning the most. My teachers have always said that casting directors just want you to be good so that they can enjoy an audition. You know what? They are so right! The people who don’t take direction well in the room really make the day seem slower. The really great people make the experience a joy though! I thoroughly enjoyed the auditions from every person that we ended up casting.

The lesson learned:
Always be the guy who makes a casting office’s day. :)

In acting news, you can still come and see me in either Dark Side of the Moon on Sundays at 8pm, or in Roswell on Thursdays at 8pm at 1523 N. La Brea Avenue in Hollywood! They are honestly the best stage work I think I have ever been a part of. Dead Cat Cafe is almost finished, but it is behind schedule. The premiere episode will be up soon so I’m told. I’ll keep you all posted. :)

See you soon!
